Sir Michael Lickiss will take over as the chairman of the British Tourist Association, making him the first chairman for the national tourism body that is being launched in April.
Sir Lickiss, who is a chartered accountant, takes over from current BTA chairman, David Quarmby who is retiring in May. Mr Quarmby has held the post since 1996.
Tom Wright, current chief executive of the BTA, will take on the same role in the new organisation. Other roles have yet to be filled.
A BTA spokesperson told TravelMole that a name had not yet been decided for the body, but she said it would be announced in the next two months. The new organisation will be responsible for the development of inbound tourism for Britain and for the marketing of England within Britain. Scotland and Wales will retain their own organisations.
