Changi passengers won’t lose their booze in EU
BRUSSELS – Singapore has become the first country to be recognised by the European Union as meeting its airport security standards.
Passengers arriving from Singapore no longer will have to forfeit their duty-free purchases of liquids at EU airport security checkpoints when transferring to another flight.
“This is an important first step; benefits to the traveller will become widespread once more non-EU countries get approval,” said Olivier Jankovec, director general of Brussels-based European branch of Airports Council International.
“We need increased focus on research and development so as ultimately to allow the lifting of all restrictions to the carriage of liquid goods.”
