Charges filed against woman for attacking air marshal
A woman is facing possible jail time after causing a mid-flight disturbance aboard a Delta flight bound for Salt Lake City.
Sarah Maria Beach, 45, is facing a misdemeanor assault charge after allegedly trying to throttle an air marshal on the transatlantic flight which departed from London.
According to a criminal complaint, Beach ‘disrupted the flight by numerous actions, including throwing coffee on passengers, overturning the drink cart, and repeatedly running up and down the aisle.’
She was then ordered to sit next to an air marshal, and for a time caused no further problems.
Unfortunately that didn’t last, the FBI said in a statement.
"She was initially calm with the marshals and was escorted to the bathroom three times. After she finished in the bathroom the third time, she jumped on the back of one of the air marshals and placed her hands on his head, neck, and jawline. The second federal air marshal pulled her from the back of the other marshal and handcuffed her. She remained handcuffed for the rest of the flight."
U.S. Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Melodie Rydalch said Beach, a US citizen who lives in London, could face one year in a federal prison if found guilty.
