Charing Cross reopens after fire on train
Charing Cross station has reopened following a fire on a train.
The blaze, thought to have been caused by an electrical fault, started in a carriage on platform six and forced the closure of the London station for about two hours yesterday.
Witnesses said the incident led to panic with many people assuming it was a bomb.
Trains were diverted to London Victoria or London Bridge.
The Underground station was closed for about 15 minutes before reopening, Transport for London said.
Network Rail said disruption was likely to continue as a result of the fire, with platforms five and six remaining closed.
