Checking in to the dragon’s lair: AYANA to open first five-star resort in Komodo
Luxury resort operator AYANA has unveiled details for the first ever five-star resort in Komodo.
Located in Labuan Bajo, West Flores, AYANA Komodo Resort, Waecicu Beach is slated to open in summer 2018.
It will feature 189 guest rooms and 12 suites, swimming pools, a spa and multiple dining venues including HonZEN Japanese restaurant, Kisik seafood barbeque restaurant and a rooftop bar.
The resort also plans a rooftop wedding and function suite catering for up to 200 guests.
"Our team is the secret to our success. We are excited about introducing the newest member of our resort family to the AYANA community, and look forward to launching the first premium five-star resort in Flores," said Clive Edwards, general manager of AYANA Resort and Spa, Bali, The Villas at AYANA Resort, Bali, and RIMBA Jimbaran Bali by AYANA.
A private pier will house a 54 metre long, nine-bedroom ‘phinisi’ sail boat christened AYANA Lako’dia, offering short two to three night cruises, or it can be chartered as a unique wedding venue afloat.
Up and coming Komodo is among the fastest growing destinations in the Indonesian archipelago, noted for world class diving and of course, the only place in the world to see the Komodo Dragon in the wild.
The UNESCO designated Komodo National Park is already highly popular on liveaboard diving itineraries and small ship cruises.
The park is one of the Indonesian tourism ministry’s ’10 new Balis’ which are destinations being fast-tracked for tourism development as regional alternatives or add-ons to Bali, Indonesia’s premier tourism hub.
It is a one hour flight to Labuan Bajo’s Komodo Airport from Bali where AYANA operates flagship resorts, AYANA Resort and Spa, Bali, The Villas at AYANA Resort, Bali, and RIMBA Jimbaran Bali by AYANA.
The company also recently opened AYANA Midplaza Jakarta.
