China Airlines launching flights to Chiang Mai
China Airlines is adding to its Southeast Asia flight network with four weekly flights to the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai.
The route kicks off on June 23, subject to regulatory approvals.
Flights will depart Taoyuan Airport every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday morning.
CAL will operate 158-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the route.
The airline recently announced the launch of flights to Cebu in the Philippines beginning in March 2020.
Chiang Mai becomes its 17th route in Southeast Asia, which has become a major growth market for inbound travellers to Taiwan since the downturn from mainland China.
CAL will face direct competition on the Taoyuan – Chiang Mai route from EVA Airways and AirAsia.
