China All You Can Imagine
A delegation of 82 tourism executives and performing artists is visiting Australia and New Zealand between December 2 – 11 to further develop the two nations as important source markets and strengthen bilateral tourism relationships.
The tourism resources of Beijing, Shanxi, Jilin, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian, Anhui, Hubei, Shandong, Henan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shannxi, Qinghai, Tibet and Xinjiang were shown during an outdoor consumer display mounted at the First Fleet Park at The Rocks, a media conference and a subsequent trade display and product knowledge competition in Sydney on Tuesday.
The theme for the marketing push in Oceania is China All You Can Imagine Olympics in Beijing, World Expo in Shanghai, Travel in China.
Similar promotions based on this theme will be held in Brisbane and Auckland over the next week.
Melbourne consumers and agents will be updated on Chinese tourism products and services at a series of events planned over December 10 and 11.

While there has been a financial tsunami we don’t expect a tourism tsunami, said Mr. Xue Yaping, Deputy Director General Marketing & International Cooperation, China National Tourism Administration.
Mr Xue admitted that the delegation was coming at a time of financial uncertainty though he was confident that Australians would continue to support China as China was, indeed, supporting Australia with increased arrivals.
Between January and October there was a 14 per cent increase in the outbound market from China, he said.
He added that he hoped this “reach out†mission would build confidence in Australia and New Zealand in the lead up to the next major event in China, the World Expo in Shanghai in 2010.
This year marks the 30th anniversary since the policy of reform and opening-up was adopted in 1978.
Tourism promotions next year will be centred on sustainable and harmonious development of China’s tourism industry. In January the China National Tourism Administration will launch China Eco-tourism Year 2009.
A wide range of promotional activities will be undertaken under the slogan Enjoy Green Tourism and Experience Ecological Civilisation.
