China Eastern Airlines rolls out hotel loyalty platform

Sunday, 16 Nov, 2016 0
China Eastern Airlines has joined forces with loyalty travel tech firm Kaligo to launch a new loyalty hotel programme for its Eastern Miles members.

It will be powered by Kaligo’s TravelEdge accrual and redemption platform to allow the airline’s 32 million members to earn and redeem points in real time at 465,000 hotels worldwide.

"We are seeing a clear loyalty trend in China, where large rewards programs are quickly gaining momentum. The TravelEdge accrual & redemption platform is a perfect fit for modern Chinese travellers who are becoming increasingly rewards conscious," said Kyle Armstrong, CEO of Kaligo.

"Based on a recent market study of loyalty programmes, it’s estimated that hotel redemptions already represent over 500 billion miles burned globally on an annual basis, and we’re excited to see this proposition starting to take off in China."

Members can redeem points via desktop or mobile with instant confirmation in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese or English.

Zhilin Wei, general manager, China Eastern Airlines E-Commerce Co said:  "We continuously strive to strengthen the value of the Eastern Miles programme for our members by offering new travel redemption options which are proven to increase customer engagement. Our members will now be able to instantly earn and redeem their points for hotel bookings all over the world with a simple and easy-to-use e-commerce experience. "
