China Express Airlines makes big order of homegrown planes
China’s homegrown aircraft manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) has scored a big order from China Express Airlines for 100 commercial jets.
The Chongqing-based carrier will take a mix of ARJ21 and C919 aircraft.
It is the largest single order for COMAC from a private airline.
China Express currently operates Airbus and CRJ aircraft, and is expected to take delivery of the first ARJ21 planes by the end of this year.
The C919 is still awaiting final regulatory approval and may not enter service until sometime in 2022.
COMAC says it has more than 300 firm orders for the aircraft so far.
