China resumes group tours to UK, other countries
United Kingdom is now able to accept China group tours again.
It is a major boost to the UK inbound tourism sector.
Overall, Chinese overseas visa applications are up by 680%.
“We expect the UK seeing large groups returning in time for Golden Week at the beginning of October,” said Helena Beard, MD of specialist Chinese travel PR and representation agency, Guanxi.
“Bounceback of the Chinese market to the UK will be helped further by the very fast recovery of direct flight capacity.”
Meanwhile, the China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market takes place later this year.
It is the only B2B event focused purely on the outbound market.
It is a platform to meet an invited audience of Chinese tour operators and travel agents to source outbound travel products and services for Chinese tourists.
The 16th edition of COTTM takes place from 15-17 November 2023.
It is the latest easing of rules from China’s culture and tourism ministry.
The ministry gave the go-ahead to resume outbound group tours to a number of countries.
As well as the UK, it includes the US, Japan, South Korea, Germany and Australia.
