City in lockdown after zoo animals escape during flash floods
People in Georgia were told to stay indoors after flooding led to wild animals escaping from the zoo.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office updated its advice to say residents of Tbilisi were advised to remain indoors as they searched for the animals which included lions, bears, wolves and a hippo.
The floods have already killed up to 12 people including three who work at the zoo as well as destroying enclosures allowing the dangerous animals to roam free.
After the city went into lockdown, the escaped hippo was cornered in the main square of Tbilisi and was subdued by a tranquiliser gun.
Eight bears and 20 wolves are also among the animals who escaped as well as six tigers and six lions.
