Club Med: Brits are spending up to 20% more on holidays

Friday, 25 Apr, 2021 0

British customers are spending on average 20% more on holidays this year, according to data collated by Club Med.

It points to an aspect of ‘revenge travel’ – customers prepared to spend more after missing out on the opportunity to travel internationally over the past year.

Club Med says it equates to an average 20% more being spent on holidays this year, compared to February 2021.

For short-haul holidays, Club Med notes strong demand for Turkey, Greece and Portugal.

Estelle Giraudeau, Managing Director UK & Northern Europe at Club Med, said: "The last year has been difficult for both holidaymakers and travel companies alike. We’ve wanted to give Brits the holiday they deserve, but due to restrictions, this has largely not been possible."

"It’s great to see that they are now using their saved up money to rightly treat themselves after a long time of inactivity. This has been reflected in the increase in average booking cost proving that our customers are looking for a holiday to make up for all those missed in 2020."
