Cruise & Maritime Voyages has expanded into the German market with the takeover of TransOcean Kreuzfahrten.

As part of the deal with Munich based Premicon AG, CMV will assume immediate responsibility for the charter, operation and marketing of the Astor including her existing summer 2014 programme ex-Kiel, Bremerhaven & Hamburg.

The agreement also includes the charter of the European river cruise fleet; Belvedere, Bellefleur, Bellejour and Sans Souci on the rivers Rhine, Main, Danube, Mosel, Neckar, Elbe, Oder, Havel, Rhône and Saône.

The vessels will continue to be marketed under the established TransOcean brand as a German speaking market product with the existing distribution channels remaining unchanged.

Selected future sailings will be designated for international support.

CMV announced in 2011 that it was launching a dedicated sales operation in Fort Lauderdale, USA to develop North American business and in 2013, that it was opening a Sydney sales office.

A CMV Munich based ship management office was also opened in 2013.

Chris Coates, commercial director of CMV said: "We are confident that with the professional expertise, vast experience and IT capability at our disposal we can emulate the successful strategies introduced in the UK and Australia and expand our presence in Germany, Europe’s second largest cruise market."

CMV is part of the Global Maritime Group and also operates the Marco Polo and Discovery plus the river vessel, Vienna I under the new premium plus Signature River Cruise brand.
