Co-op buys Hourds Travel
United Co-op Travel Group claims to have doubled the potential turnover of its business travel arm following a major acquisition.
The company has bought Stafford-based Hourds Travel, which has six branches in Milton Keynes, Wales and the North of England. Hourds Travel has an annual turnover of around £25 million, which will take the Co-op’s business travel division turnover to £60 million.
The Co-op claims the acquisition places it in the UK’s top 15 business travel operators. General manager Mike Greenacre said: “Hourds is a consistently profitable business with a wide client base and a reputation for good, innovative client services which makes it an ideal compliment to enhance and build on the success already achieved by our business travel division. He added that all Hourds Travel staff would be taken on.
