Co-pilot has heart attack in cockpit and dies
More than 180 passengers were left stranded on board a plane after the co-pilot had a heart attack and died on Friday.
The Eastar Jet pilot, named as 41-year old Lim Hyan Soo from South Korea, was preparing for take-off at Phuket International Airport when he suffered a fatal coronary.
He had breathing difficulties and was given CPR en route to the Thalang hospital but died four hours after arriving there, reports the Daily Mail.
The low-cost airline cancelled the flight scheduled to travel to Incheon Airport in Seoul, South Korea.
All 186 people on board were taken to a hotel in Phuket until their new flight could be arranged.
The co-pilot reportedly flew 2,980 hours since he took a job in Eastar Jet in September 2011, according to the Korea Times.
Eastar Jet is based in Seoul and flies to 14 destinations across Asia.
