Cocaine worth 200,000 GBP found on Jewel of the Seas
Six passengers on Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas have been detained for alleged drug smuggling.
Customs and Border protection agents found 11 kilos of cocaine in a suitcase onboard the ship when it arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The drugs were uncovered by sniffer dogs during a routine inspection, said the CBP.
The contraband has an estimated street value of $300,000.
A total of seven people are being held on suspicion of trafficking.
Royal Caribbean spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez said six of the arrested were US male passengers.
No information has been released yet regarding the nationality or status of the seventh suspect.
