Concorde loses rudder in the Atlantic
France: Recurring fault causes more trouble for supersonic jet
An Air France Concorde jet lost part of its rudder over the Atlantic – just a day after British Airways confirmed that the future of the supersonic plane is under review.
Though the plane landed safely in New York and nobody was hurt in the incident, this was the sixth time the same problem has occurred with Concorde; the last was just a few months ago.
As reported by News From Abroad yesterday, British Airways has admitted that the future of its Concorde fleet is under review and industry analysts are speculating that the plane could be grounded for ever by the end of the year.
Air France said the incident was not even noticed during the flight; a spokesman told the Daily Mail: “Flight AF002 landed normally and on time. Passengers remained unaware of the latest technical glitch to hit the supersonic fleet and enjoyed a totally calm flight.”
