Conference will tackle ATOL changes
A timely conference tackling the legal issues faced by the travel industry is taking place in the UK next month. Speakers at the conference include Helen Simpson, director of Consumer Protection Group from CAA, Keith Richards head of consumer affairs from ABTA and Seamus Conlon, ex-TV Travel Shop and Airtours. Travel agents baffled by the recent proposed ATOL changes should attend the presentation on the first day from Ms Simpson who will be joined by solicitor Simon Chamberlain of Field Fisher Waterhouse and by Noel Josephides, managing director of Sunvil Holidays. This is the fifth International Travel and Tourism Policy, Law and Management conference. It is held in association with AITO and Nova University in Fort Lauderdale. Mr Conlon will be looking into the challenges posed by e-commerce, alongside David Hickson, senior legal counsel from lastminute.com. Other speakers include Jenny White who works with the Disability Rights Commission and Christine Wade, director of Consumer Regulation Enforcement Division from OFT. The conference takes place from 19 to 21 May at Northumbria University. It costs ?375 per delegate including both days and the conference dinner, but check the website for various discounts.
