Consortium looks to buy bmi regional
A Scottish consortium is believed to be close to a deal to buy bmi regional, according to a BBC report.
The Aberdeen-based consortium, Granite Aviation, is said to be in advanced talks with IAG over the sale of the division for about £20 million.
British Airways’ parent IAG is now the owner of the regional airline, but wants to offload it.
It acquired the two airlines when it bought Heathrow-based bmi from Lufthansa Group earlier this month.
IAG, which also owns Iberia, said it has no plans to keep operating bmi regional or bmi baby.
Bmi regional is based in Aberdeen and employs more than 300 people.
