Cosmos expands responsibilities following Washington’s departure
The departure of Andy Washington to lastminute.com has led Cosmos to expand the roles of two senior managers.
Gordon McCreadie, head of trade relations for Cosmos, Avro and somewhere2stay and Tony Byrne, head of trade relations for Cosmos Tourama, will both now have their roles “significantly expanded”.
Both will work under the direction of Cosmos product and commercial director Stuart Jackson, who takes on responsibility for the tour operations’ trade sales and distribution division with the departure of Washington in the spring.
McCreadie and Byrne will take on all day to day responsibility for trade sales and will be the main points of contact, supported by the field sales team comprising Andrew Hutchinson, Nicola Peacock, Lisa Chenery, Gemma Fullwood and Kelly Crossley. The Bromley-based distribution support team remains in place and is made up of Orla Kern, Vickie O’Hare, Claire Whyte and Lauren Francis.
Naomi Reed retains her role as e-commerce & partnership relations manager with responsibility for the expanding area of affiliate partners.
Jackson said: “With the company policy of succession management we were keen to take this opportunity to elevate the positions of Gordon and Tony. They are both hugely respected by our trade partners and I am confident they can take a greater role in delivering our trade sales strategy.
“The sales function is now so commercially and component-aligned that we believe the time is right not to replace a dedicated Sales Director role but encompass it into the commercial end of the business.
“In my role as MD of somewhere2stay I have already been in discussion with most of the consortia regarding the product and commercial aspects of our relationships and will move this forward to encompass the sales focus so that we continue to build on our growth through the trade which has always been, and will continue to be, of utmost importance to us.”
