Cosmos increases capacity to Turkey
Cosmos and sister operator Avro Flights have increased flight capacity to Turkey to soak up demand from customers of the failed tour operator Holidays 4U.
However, Thomson and First Choice have made no similar commitment to lay on extra flights, despite admitting there is now a shortage of holidays.
A spokeswoman said the operators would be reviewing capacity for Turkey “in due course, as per our normal business practice”.
She admitted Holidays 4U customers trying to re-book flights and packages would find prices had gone up due to the operator’s collapse at the start of the peak season.
“With the demise of Holidays 4 U at the start of the school holidays, customers looking to rebook and depart on holidays in the next few weeks will find that prices are higher,” she said.
“This is as a result of limited availability as our holidays were already well sold, prior to Holidays 4 U going into administration. ”
Cosmos and Avro have added more capacity on existing flights to Dalaman from both Gatwick and Manchester throughout August, and extra flights throughout September and during October school half-term.
Cosmos managing director Hugh Morgan said: “Since the news came through about Holidays4U, we have been working closely with our travel agent partners to assist them in re-booking flights and holidays for their customers.Â
“Our commercial team has been working hard to get as many extra seats on sale to Turkey as possible.â€
He said Cosmos and Avro still had packages and flights available to other Eastern Mediterranean destinations during peak season including Corfu, Crete, Kos, Rhodes and Zante.
