Cosmos to move beyond beach holidays

Sunday, 14 Sep, 2012 0

Cosmos Holidays is widening its programme to offer ski and city breaks next year on the back of new flights from its sister airline Monarch.

Ski packages and accommodation-only are being launched to take advantage of new Monarch flights to Munich, Friedrichshafen, Grenoble, and Innsbruck.

A spokeswoman said product for this is being contracted at the moment and a full range should be on sale to the trade in late September or early October.

Meanwhile, a programme of new short breaks are also planned for Italy using Monarch’s flights to Rome, Milan, Verona and Venice.

The operator has appointed Steven Seddon as head of marketing to help push the new product, alongside Cosmos’ existing beach holidays.

Replacing Debbie Pearce, he joins from Virgin Trains, where he spent the last six years. Before this he was with TUI Travel for five years, working on the branding and communications for both Thomson and Portland holidays.

Seddon will report to Phil Boggon, marketing and commercial director.

Gary Anslow, sales director, said Seddon would help the operator revitalise the Cosmos brand.

"We are moving towards a new technology platform which will allow us to sell beyond beach holidays, to city breaks, ski and lifestyle experiences," he said.

"We have a lot to shout about, and Steven’s appointment will enable us to do that."
