Countdown on for Vivid Sydney
City officials recently marked the 100-day countdown to Vivid Sydney 2023, Australia’s largest festival.
The festival’s Lights On begins at 6pm on Friday 26 May.
The festival celebrates creativity, innovation and technology for 23 days and nights
It comprises Vivid Light, Vivid Music, Vivid Ideas and the new Vivid Food.
Minister for Tourism Ben Franklin said Vivid Sydney is a vital economic driver for NSW during the winter months.
“It makes a vital social and economic contribution to our state,” Franklin said.
Last year it was visited by over 2.5 million people.
It generated $119 million into the NSW economy, Franklin said.
“With international borders fully reopened, we’re anticipating this year’s festival to be our biggest and best yet.”
This year’s creative direction, ‘Vivid Sydney, Naturally,’ has been inspired by the natural environment.
Highlights include Vivid Sydney Light Walk along the 8.5km illuminated walk.
Lightscape will transform The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney for the first time at Vivid Sydney.
It will also illuminate Barangaroo, Darling Harbour plus icons such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
