Cruise guests arrested in Bermuda for suspected drug possession
Police in Bermuda said they have arrested four US nationals from a cruise ship for suspected drug possession.
Police said they seized a ‘significant quantity of illegal drugs’ ranging from cannabis to carfentanil.
Carfentanil is about 100 times more potent than fentanyl and has been used as an elephant tranquilizer.
“This seizure may have prevented a potential tragedy,” said acting Detective Superintendent Derricka Burns.
The four unnamed passengers were guests aboard the Carnival Pride.
Carnival Cruise Line reiterated its compliance with all applicable overseas laws and regulations.
“We follow a zero-tolerance drug policy. We also advise our guests that they can be personally subject to local law enforcement actions.”
The guests have also been accused of possessing vape pens and items suspected of being THC gummies.
Bermuda police said security officers the cruise ship had initially detained the four guests.
They were then arrested upon their arrival in Bermuda.
Police hasn’t disclosed any further details about the passengers bur said charges are ‘expected to follow.’.
