Cruise line announces refurb programme
Hurtigruten has announced that four of its coastal ships will have a total makeover in 2016, being fitted with a modern Scandinavian interior.
The newly acquired MS Spitsbergen is already being refurbished, offering suites with private balconies, and will feature as an additional ship on the Norwegian coastal route from May 8.
She will then replace MS Midnatsol in autumn 2015.
MS Polarlys will be the first existing ship to be refurbished in January 2016, during a 22 day programme of round the clock works. The upgrading of MS Kong Harald, MS Nordkapp and MS Nordnorge will follow.
MS Spitsbergen will be the latest ship to offer Hurtigruten’s new Coastal Expedition concept, with a lecture programme, regular hikes and expedition team on-board.
The new product, which was announced earlier this year, will operate on three other coastal ships from January 1, 2016.
"By combining tradition, innovation and sustainability, we aim to ensure the position as world leader in nature-based explorer travels in polar waters", said Hurtigruten CEO Daniel Skjeldam.
