Cruise lines filling up
A new development in the cruise industry noted by CruiseBrothers.com president Steve Gelfuso:
“In the past few months, ships are selling out. They’re pretty full this year for the first time in years.”
“If people don’t have something booked for the fall, there’s very little space, and it’s going fast,” he added.
That’s good news for agents because prices are also going up.
“Rates are going up substantially. I’d say they’re 20% higher,” said Mr Gelfuso.
His Providence, Rhode Island-based CruiseBrothers.com has been around for 30 years, emphasizing personalized service.
“We tell customers we’re no Mr Travelocity or Mr Expedia, but there are people here. You can pick up your phone and I’m here if you need help,” he said.
Mr Gelfuso tells his value-conscious customers that even if they book on line, they are not assured of getting the lowest price possible.
“Another one of our advantages is that we have one of the oldest and best relationships with the cruise lines. We can get upgrades and special treatment from the cruise lines because we’ve been doing business with them for so long,” he said.
