Cruise ship passenger dies in Hawaii shuttle bus accident
A woman has died and several others were injured following a tragic shuttle bus accident outside Honolulu’s cruise terminal.
The bus was picking up cruise ship passengers when it began to move forward.
The driver jumped back in the seat but mistakenly pressed down on the gas rather than the brakes.
It then careered into a group of cruise ship passengers waiting to board the bus.
A 68-year old woman from Illinois died in hospital.
She was on a Carnival cruise celebrating her wedding anniversary. Her husband was also injured along with several other people.
Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Shayne Enright said four people were taken to hospital and one was in a serious condition.
Several others were treated at the scene but didn’t required extensive medical treatment.
Most of the cruise ship guests were on the Carnival Miracle which is on a 15-day cruise from Long Beach.
“Members of the Carnival Care Team are assisting the guests. Our thoughts are with the guests affected and their loved ones, ” Carnival Cruise Line said.
