Cruise ship slams into San Francisco pier
A Princess Cruises ship docked with a thud, crashing into a pier in San Francisco.
The Ruby Princess made ‘unexpected contact with the dock at Pier 27, the cruise line said.
It was docking following a 10-day Alaskan cruise.
“There were no injuries and at no time were any guests or crew in danger,” Princess said.
Ruby Princess suffered some hull damage although the port and cruise line hasn’t given any specific details.
The dock was also damaged.
The US Coast Guard is conducting an investigation, Petty Officer Hunter Schnabel told CNN.
Ruby Princess can accommodate over 3,000 guests.
The next journey was delayed with the ship still docked as of early Friday, nearly a full day after its scheduled Thursday departure.
