CruiseAgents, Australia’s leading cruise-only wholesaler and recent recipient of the ‘Best Online Costa Partner Asia Pacific’ award welcomes the announcement from Costa Cruises of the deployment of a second ship, Costa Classica, in the burgeoning Asian cruise market from March 2009.

“The Costa Classica not only doubles the presence of Costa in this rapidly growing market,” said CruiseAgents managing director, Brett Dudley, “it effectively increases our passenger capacity by 200 per cent.”

The 53,000 ton, 1680 passenger Costa Classica will be deployed from March 27 through November 7, 2009 on 33 cruises of between four and 14 days. Departures are out of Singapore, Shanghai, Tianjin and Hong Kong on itineraries offering the finest destinations in several Asian countries.

Currently, the 820-berth Costa Allegra offers 30 cruises from November 2008 through November 2009, including some 14-day itineraries. These depart from Hong Kong and Singapore and visit some of the most popular ports of call in the region.

With this second cruise ship in the Asian market, Costa will offer nearly 55,000 additional berths with over 60 cruises, thus bringing its overall capacity in the region to 85,000 berths.

Costa Cruises, the leading cruise line in Italy and Europe, was the first international company to schedule regular cruises in China and Asia.

Recently Costa Cruises in China won two significant awards: ‘The Best Marketing Promotion Award’ in GOLD LIST TRAVEL AWARD 2007 organised by TRAVELER and the ‘Top International Cruise Line Award’ 2007 organized by World Traveller. These two awards reinforce Costa Cruises as a solid leader in the South East Asian market with both market and consumer recognition.

Since Costa began operations in the Far East, more than 50,000 guests have sailed abaord the Costa Allegra on approximately 100 cruises.
