Cruising will be hot this summer
Cruising will be sailing smoothly this year for a growing number of travelers who are finding it to be their vacation of choice, according to a new poll.
Cruising is buoyed by strong customer demand, new ship introductions, more US homeport availability and renewed interest in exotic ports. Predictions are that last year’s record 10.5 million will be shattered.
A new survey found nearly 9 of 10 of those polled said they would book another cruise this year.
The Cruise Lines International Association says its cruise ships are sailing at a 100% occupancy rate for 2005.
The Travelers Advantage survey found two thirds of those polled rated their most recent cruise vacation as excellent. Food service also rated high, with 61% rating it tops.
Favorite parts of a cruise included food, spending time with family, picture-perfect weather, rest and relaxation, and romance.
The favorite resort destinations were Mexico, followed by Hawaii and Alaska.
“Our poll participants weighted in on such perennial favorites as the Caribbean, the Hawaiian Islands and Alaska, and consumer demand continues to surge for these dynamic destinations, as well as Europe and Asia,” said Julia Ryan, vice president of Travelers Advantage and TravelrsAdvantage.com.
Italy, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and California were also among favorites.
