Crystal announces three new luxury brands in huge expansion

Sunday, 20 Jul, 2015 0

There are big changes ahead for Crystal Cruises.

The luxury cruise line has announced a major expansion plan which will see it moving into the river cruising business, luxury yachting and even offer jet tours.

The line has signed an agreement for three new all-suite ocean ships with a capacity for 1,000 passengers.

Crystal will take delivery of the first ship in 2018 and says each cabin will be a minimum of 400 square feet.

It will also offer 48 residences for sale measuring from 600 to 4,000 square feet in size which will be located on upper decks with their own dedicated restaurant and other amenities.

Crystal is also launching Crystal River Cruises in 2017 with two luxury river vessels and even plans to purchase a Boeing 787 jet, accommodating just 60 guests offering upscale month-long round-the-world trips.

"We really came up with a global strategy to become the world’s premier luxury, hospitality and lifestyle brand portfolio," CEO Edie Rodriguez told USA TODAY.

"It will make everything else that exists (in the luxury cruise industry) pale in comparison."

The first major change will come later this year when it launches the Crystal Esprit, a 62-passenger super luxury yacht which comes with a two-man submarine offering the potential for underwater weddings, Rodriguez said.
