CT2 launches airline for northerners
Tour operator CT2 has launched its own holiday airline which will fly from Manchester and Newcastle airports.
The new airline, called AV8air, will serve its CT2 Holidays, CT2 Flights and LOCO Flights brands, as well as other independent UK tour operators.
From October one 757-200 aircraft will be based at Manchester flying to Tenerife, Malaga, Lanzarote (Arrecife) and Alicante over the winter period.
And the following month AV8 will base a 767-300 aircraft at Manchester to help service the four winter sun routes as well as CT2 Holidays’ new South Africa holiday programme, which will provide the only direct flights from the North of England to Cape Town. CT2 said another long haul destination – currently not served from Manchester – is also likely to be added.
The 767 will then move to Newcastle for the summer period where it will fly to Durban, via Manchester. AV8air will also serve a range of European holiday destinations direct from Newcastle.
AV8air’s managing director Michael O’Donovan said: “In addition to traditional favourites like Tenerife, we will be working closely with our tour operator partners to identify holiday routes which are not currently served from the North in order to provide greater choice and value to northern holidaymakers.”
