Cunard slows it down
Cunard’s cruises will go at a more leisurely pace in 2013 after research showed customers wanted more time to relax on their holidays.
The cruise line said its research pointed to the emergence of a "new definition of luxury", where having time and space to relax and re-charge the batteries are the new must-haves, as well quality.
As a result, Cunard’s 2013 voyage programme features more time at sea, more overnight stays in port, and in the case of two of the Transatlantic sailings, an extra day in which to unwind on an eight-day crossing to or from New York.
Cunard president and managing director Peter Shanks said: "For 2013, we have responded to research findings and placed a new emphasis on unhurried relaxation that reflects a growing desire for busy people to leave behind the stresses of modern life and immerse themselves instead in an atmosphere of indulgence and calm where everyday courtesies are extended as a way of life, not an exception."
New destinations for Cunard include Isafjordur in Iceland, Salerno in Italy and Torshavn in the Faroe Islands.
The 2013 programme features a 10% saving on all newly announced departures, and a further 5% early booking reduction for bookings made by 30 June 2012.
The programme goes on sale on 24 April.
