Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth to make Abu Dhabi debut
Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth will make her maiden call in Abu Dhabi next week.
The £337 million ship will arrive at the UAE capital’s Zayed Port cruise terminal on April 17 with 2,200 passengers on board as part of her 2014 World Cruise.
She will return next April with the Queen Mary 2 as one of two scheduled ports-of-call for Cunard’s 2015 world cruise programmes celebrating the company’s 175th anniversary.
"Queen Elizabeth is considered the most high-profile arrival of what is set to be our busiest cruise season, and a sign that our promotion of Abu Dhabi in recent years as a highly credible winter cruise destination is bearing fruit," said Sultan Al Dhaheri, acting executive director, tourism, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).
Abu Dhabi plans to open a permanent cruise terminal at Zayed Port, and a stopover ‘Desert Island’ beach experience in its Western Region, both set to feature in cruise itineraries for the 2015/16 season.
