Death of travel industry pioneer Peter Bath
Peter Bath MBE, head of Bath Travel, one of the country’s largest independent travel agency chains, has died aged 79.
The Bournemouth-based company, which has a string of more than 50 agency branches acoss the South of England, runs the airline Palmair, a business travel arm and a cruise division, was one of the first to offer air-based package holidays.
Peter Bath, whose sons Stephen and Andrew will continue running the company, gained a reputation for personal service not least by seeing off every Palmair flight from Bournemouth Airport over a period of 40 years.
