Debate to tackle ‘dark tourism’
Tourist ‘attractions’ associated with death and destruction will form the basis of a debate being held by the Tourism Society in London next week.
A panel of academics will discuss Dark Tourism and explore visitor motivation, ethics and morality behind sites such as Auschwitz and Ground Zero, now one of New York’s major tourist draws.
Among the panellists are John Lennon, a tourism professor at Glasgow University and Tony Seaton, professor of tourism behaviour at the University of Luton.
The debate takes place on October 17 at the Kensington Close Hotel.
