Delta Air Lines trialing video chat customer service
Delta Air Lines is testing video chat functionality allowing customers to chat face-to-face with customer service reps.
The pilot program will be available for communication with its reservations team at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Delta is the first airline to offer video chat.
The airline has installed five interactive digital screens at the airport’s Delta Sky Assist area so customers can chat and make flight changes or leave feedback.
Customers simply pick up a receiver and start a live chat with a single touch on the screen.
"More and more people are choosing video chat to connect in their everyday lives, so we wanted to bring that channel to Delta customers. We have the best specialists in the business — and now they’ll be able to deliver customer solutions in an even more personal, face-to-face way," said Charisse Evans, Delta’s VP of reservations sales and customer care.
