Delta announces Boeing 747 farewell tour
After United Airlines’ Boeing 747 flew off into the sunset for the last time, Delta Air Lines has detailed its own farewell tour for its ‘Queen of the Skies.’
Delta is offering passengers and employees a few opportunities to fly the Boeing 747-400 before it retires at the end of the year.
It will fly the Detroit-Seoul route until mid-December and then embark on a short employee farewell tour.
It flies out of Detroit to Seattle on December 18, Seattle to Atlanta on December 19, and from Atlanta to Minneapolis-St. Paul on December 20.
Seats will be offered to Delta employees and retirees at a discounted rate for these flights.
Loyalty members can bid for any free seats on these services using SkyMiles.
The 747 will continue to operate charter flights until the end of the year and then will likely touch down at its final resting place at Pinal Airpark in Arizona.
United Airlines operated its last 747 flight last week from San Francisco to Honolulu.
