Delta blocking middle seat bookings in social distancing push
Delta Air Lines is doing its bit to maintain social distancing at 35,000 feet.
Starting April 13 through the end of May, the dreaded middle seat will be no longer available to book.
The middle seats are blocked in Main Cabin, Delta Comfort+ and Delta Premium Select on all flights.
"Customers who want to practice responsible social distancing can explore options via the Fly Delta App or at Delta.com. Customers who prefer to be seated directly next to travel companions and family members or needing additional assistance should contact reservations," the airline stated.
It is also limiting the number of passengers on each flight but didn’t say by how much.
In another move to spread out seat allocation, Delta is shelving automatic advance Medallion complimentary upgrades.
Instead, these will be allocated at the gate so gate agents can allocate them manually based on social distancing norms and aircraft weight-and-balance protocols.
