Delta coming out with lie-flat seats
Delta became the first US airline to announce it will introduce lie-flat seats in its international business class.
The new service will be available in early 2008 when Delta takes delivery of two new Boeing 777 Long range Aircraft, the airline said.
Said Jim Whitehurst, Delta’s CEO:
“The experience we’re creating for premium international travelers will offer an unmatched combination of privacy and comfort with the option to lie completely flat, unlike some competitors who offer an angled lie flat product.”
The seat will adjust to multiple positions and become a flat bed of more than six inches.
Starting in 2008, Delta will also add a sleeper seat to the rest of its 777 fleet. The airline also expects to add a sleeper seat to the rest of its 777 fleet.
Another amenity planned by Delta: by June of next year, travelers flying BusinessElite on international flights will have digital entertainment on demand at every seat. More comfortable seats are promised with all-leather coverings, improved leg rests and more cushioning.
