Delta extends middle seat blocking

Sunday, 09 Feb, 2021 0

Delta Air Lines will continue to block middle seats on all flights through 30 April  2021.

The airline is the only major one still keeping middle seats free, a practice it started last year during the height of the pandemic.

The carrier had previously vowed to block middle seats until the end of March.

"We want our customers to have complete confidence when traveling with Delta, and they continue to tell us that more space provides more peace of mind," said Bill Lentsch, Chief Customer Experience Officer.

"We’ll continue to reassess seat blocking in relation to case transmission and vaccination rates."

It allows customers to ‘confidently plan and book their spring travel.’

The month extension means Delta has been blocking seats for a full year.

Most other US carriers also limited cabin capacity by blocking middle seats but have since discontinued this.
