Delta getting the boot from Dallas Love Field
On the day the Wright Amendment expires – October 13 – Delta Air Lines flights from Dallas Love Field will be no more.
The city’s director of aviation Mark Duebner has told Delta which currently subleases aircraft slots from American Airlines, it "cannot be accommodated at Dallas Love Field after the expiration of the current sublease with American Airlines."
Virgin America takes over those two American gates in the new terminal on October 13, and Delta had hoped room would then be made for them to continue services.
Although Delta was offered no guarantees, Mayor Mike Rawlings urged airport officials in May to work to accommodate Delta beyond October 13.
Responding to notice to vacate in two weeks’ time, Delta spokesman Trebor Banstetter said: "Delta is disappointed that the City of Dallas has made the decision to reduce competition and travel options at Dallas Love Field by failing to accommodate our service."
"Delta remains committed to serving North Texas travelers from DFW and Love Field airports, and will continue to work with all parties to find a solution."
Banstetter said the carrier was shocked to receive the news yesterday and has so far not announced how it will accommodate passengers with tickets to travel after October 13.
