Demand grows for riotous hen weekends
Girls are catching up with boys when it comes to booking action packed weekends away before their wedding, according to lastminute.com.
Activity-based weekends are now more popular for hen weekends than the traditional pampering breaks at spas, as girls demand more “laddish” breaks.
The top hen weekend experiences are quad biking in Sherwood Forest, and wet and wild weekends in Wales.
Lastminute.com lifestyle director Lopo Champalimaud said: “Women are most certainly giving the men a run for their money when it comes to choosing an energetic way of spending their last few days of freedom.
“The traditional hen weekend which involved lots of pampering, relaxation and self-cleansing have taken a back seat. Instead, women are opting for more excitement and the more adventurous and booze-fuelled the better.”
Sales of personalised gifts through lastminute.com have tripled over the past four months, according to the retailer. The top selling gift is tea at the Ritz hotel in London.
Meanwhile, the sales of adult-only gifts are soaring, with edible candy bikini sets the most popular present in the range.
