Derek Jones steps down at DER Touristik UK
Derek Jones is leaving DER Touristik UK after more than a decade leading the Kuoni brand in the UK.
He joined Kuoni in 2009 and took over as CEO for the UK in 2011.
In a message to staff, Jones thanked the team and said the UK Group is now well placed to recover strongly.
The role of CEO of DER Touristik UK will be covered on an interim basis by Francis Torrilla, who will now report to Leif Vase Larsen, CEO of DER Touristik Northern Europe.
Torrilla joined Kuoni in 1998 as Head of Product and went on to oversee a number of divisions including product, operations and customer service at director level.
He is currently group managing director of the specialist businesses, which includes Carrier, CV Villas, Journey Latin America, Jules Verne and Kirker.
He is also managing director of CV Villas and Jules Verne.
He previously worked for Airtours and First Choice holidays.
Leif Vase Larsen, said: “Derek has been instrumental in developing Kuoni UK’s strategy, integrating the business into the DER Touristik Group and steering the business through the tough trading period of the pandemic.”
