Diana Ross cancels godmother appearance for new Royal Caribbean ship
Singing legend Diana Ross has abruptly pulled out of a planned appearance at the naming of Royal Caribbean’s new ship Star of the Seas later this month.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Diana Ross will be unable to appear,” a representative said.
The diva is now 81 and was recently named official godmother of the ship.
It is unclear why – if down to health issues, rescheduled upcoming tour dates, or a different reason.
The cruise line said: “We are disappointed that Diana Ross is unable to join us to be godmother of Star of the Seas. We look forward to announcing our new godmother soon.”
Ross was set to attend on the Star of the Seas’ at Port Canaveral on August 20.
“I’ve always felt a deep connection to the ocean and the magic it represents. When Royal Caribbean reached out to invite me to be the godmother of Star of the Seas, I knew it was something truly special,” Ross said on being announced as godmother in June.
The singer just finished a UK arena tour and was set to begin her Beautiful Love US tour this weekend, opening in California.
