Disney in talks to build WDW rail station
Officials at Disney have confirmed discussions are progressing with Brightline to bring a rail link to Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney is keen for a link, especially one which can help reduce congestion in the Orlando area, but has not made a final decision.
Brightline, which is soon to be rebranded to Virgin Trains USA, is already planning a rail line connecting Orlando and West Palm Beach as well as a link to Orlando international Airport.
"Walt Disney World Resort is an obvious choice for a rail station between Orlando International Airport and Tampa. We have been in conversations with Virgin Trains USA, and, while we have not yet made any definitive commitment, we have mutually agreed to more formally explore developing a train station on our property," a Disney spokesperson said.
It it goes ahead it could offer a direct connection to the airport.
"A proposed station would provide a direct rail connection to Orlando International Airport and serve as the initial segment for Virgin Trains’ future extension to Tampa," said Brightline senior vice president Ben Porritt.
