Disney sues Florida governor Ron DeSantis
Walt Disney Co has fired off a lawsuit targeting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
There has been weeks of bad blood between the Govenor and the state’s largest private employer ever since Disney signaled its opposition to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law.
The suit was filed after a Disney World board appointed by DeSantis voted to take away oversight from Disney for its resort areas in Orlando.
The company cited ‘a relentless campaign to weaponize government power against Disney in retaliation for expressing a political viewpoint.’
“Disney regrets that it has come to this.”
The war of words began last year after Disney, publicly opposed the “Don’t Say Gay” law.
The DeSantis administration ‘threatens Disney’s business operations, jeopardizes its economic future in the region, and violates its constitutional rights,” the lawsuit states.
