Disney World tightens security after man tried to enter with gun
Walt Disney World has tightened security with metal detectors installed at theme park entrances.
Adults are to be banned from wearing costumes in the park and it has also stopped selling toy guns.
"We continually review our comprehensive approach to security and are implementing additional security measures, as appropriate," Disney said in a statement.
Guests will be randomly selected to go through metal detector screening and more security personnel have been recruited.
Disney has used metal detectors in the past and it is unclear whether these will now become a permanent feature.
Universal Orlando is also testing metal detectors and SeaWorld said it is ‘enhancing security measures for the busy holiday season, including increased security presence both inside and outside the parks.’
Last week a man was arrested at Disney’s Magic Kingdom after attempting to bring a gun inside.
