Disneyland Paris tops online overseas holiday searches

Friday, 24 Jul, 2007 0

Disneyland Paris is the top most searched for foreign destination on the internet by UK users. Tenerife, Cyprus, Spain and Majorca were behind the Paris theme park while the number of searches for ‘Malta holidays’ tripled year on year in the four weeks to July 14.

Analysis by online research firm Hitwise reveals that consumer search behaviour changes based on the season.

As UK holidaymakers book summer holidays, internet searches that include the word “holidays” rise whilst in the winter months, weekend breaks lead to more internet searches that include the word “flights”.

New attractions
In June Disneyland Resort Paris unveiled two new attractions in a new zone, Toon Studio.

The first, Crush’s Coaster, is inspired by the DisneyPixar film Finding Nemo.

Using the latest coaster technology, the sequence of twists, turns, drops and spins varies depending on the weight distribution of riders and the number of riders so guests will experience something different each time they ride.

The second, Cars Race Rally, is based on the DisneyPixar animation Cars and is designed for even the youngest of drivers.

The two new attractions will open in the Walt Disney Studios Park anchoring a new zone called Toon Studio.

Peter Welch, vice president, UK, Disneyland Resort Paris, said: “Crush’s Coaster uses new computer imaging technology and highly sophisticated lighting and sound effects to immerse guests in the fascinating world of Nemo, Squirt and Crush while Cars Race Rally is the first attraction based on the popular DisneyPixar movie, Cars, to open in any of the Disney theme parks.”
