Shearings’ parent Specialist Leisure Group has appointed Dnata’s Paul Smith as chief financial officer to replace Gary Speakman, who has taken on the role of chief operating officer.

Smith, who is currently finance director B2B Europe at Dnata, will take up his new role at the begining of October. He will report directly to CEO Richard Calvert.

He has previously held senior roles at Airtours, Cooperative Travel and Gold Medal, including the position of interim CEO at Gold Medal/Travel 2.

"I am delighted to have someone of Paul’s ability and track record joining us," said Calvert. "Our rigorous recruitment process clearly identified Paul as the stand out candidate and I’m positive that he will prove to be a great asset and cultural fit within the SLG family as we continue our exciting journey."
